During Zarfen’s ploys to destroy the Elvish race, he creating many beings as test subjects to improve his magical and necromantic powers. One of Zarfen’s first findings was the ability go the Spirit Realm. Zarfen used this power to create many new beings. One of these creatures is the Hellscythe.
One of Zarfen’s first ideas to destroy the elves was to fight them with undead creatures. He used the corpses of dead solders to do so. After opening a portal to the Spirit Realm, Zarfen took the spirit of a wolf and imbued it into the dead human. Zarfen’s attempt failed 30 times. The 31st try was met with an unexpected result. The dead human awoke as though he had never died. Upon further examination Zarfen found that there were no changes in the human’s physical body. His personality was that of a human as well. He was literally, a revived human.
This human (subject 31) was quickly sent back to the front lines to continue the assault on the elves. Zarfen found that subject 31 had an unnatural desire to use large weapons and mutilate the fallen elves as well as fallen humans. Shortly after his return to the front lines, Subject 31 was charged with mutilation of the dead. Subject 31 was exiled to the forests of the west. There, Subject 31 found a small Elvish village. Subject 31 lived there in peace. He found a beautiful elvish woman who he married and had children.
Subject 31′s children were born Hellscthes. They had blue eyes as powerful as a wolfs. Talons, sharp teeth, and fur over their body. Besides their physical form and love of meat, Subject 31′s children were raised in the village as excepted family members.
Because the Hellscythes were human in origin, they were more fertile and could produce more children then the elves. Because of this, the Hellscythes reproduced tenfold over the elves, and eventually overpopulated the elves. Shortly there after, the elves found fault with the Hellscythes, and because of a lake of food for both, they started a war with the Hellscythes. During the battles, the Hellscythes underwent physical changes. Their peaceful nature was replaced by a generation of blood lust and hate. They began creating weapons. Their first was a scythe, from the farm tools they learned to use. Mutilation of the body was done whenever they killed an elf. Usually the mutilation was a piercing of some sort.
In the battle of Hindle, the elvish Elder was killed. Soon, the elves fled fearing these now blood craved Hellscythes. The Hellscythes now live in seclusion in the forests of the West.
Their mixed blood of human and elf along with the spirit of a wolf made them excellent hunters and unrelenting warriors. Their average life expectancy is two hundred years. They hunt in packs, and have never been seen by humans.
