Plan an Event – Educational Opportunities to Make Money

A seminar or conference offer opportunities to learn and make money. If you’ve never attended a conference, you don’t know what you’re missing. Learning at a multiple level event offers many specific ways to get an education and make money.

Networking with other professionals

Sometimes people leave out kids when they have an event that might include the opportunity to make money. But they shouldn’t. Kids need an opportunity to network and communicate with adults too. I’ve even been asked to speak at a few events. When I plan my own events, I always give myself time to speak. It breaks the ice to have a kid standing in front of the room sharing his experience when others are there listening. After all, I’m just a kid. I shouldn’t really be teaching anything. The best part, after they hear me speak, adults ask for my business cards.

Getting recognition for my information

When I become recognized for what I know, people refer others to me. The easiest way to do that is speak at a conference where there are a lot of adults. They listen to you when you’re standing in front of them telling them about technical stuff they really don’t know. It’s an important breakthrough for kids to be the teachers. We get recognized.

Present a professional program

The easiest way to present a professional program is to have a handout with your presentation outlined. Then follow it. Following what’s on paper isn’t difficult if  you plan it well. I usually have notes to fill in between the outline that help me to stay on track. I add in some information that needs to be handed out, like websites, links, and detailed references.

If you want to attend a conference where I’ll be speaking, go to A.C.E. Writers and attend the Fall into Publishing Conference.
